Welcome to the adventures of Camp Cleanup! Camp Cleanup spent the weekend on a property in Copperopolis. In addition to learning a lot of fun facts about this historic little town in the California foothills, we met some people, did some sightseeing, and picked up a lot of trash along the way.
The little town of Columbia where we enjoyed some delicious pizza, did some old-style bowling, visited the blacksmith and candy store, and enjoyed the schoolhouse. It’s a beautiful town with lots of kind people. It was already very clean, but we still found quite a lot of trash to clean up.
We camped at a hip-camp spot on water district land, surrounded by thousands of acres of cattle grazing land. We walked along the shore of the man-made lake and were quite troubled by flying bugs! We cleaned up the camp at every opportunity, but found the grounds to be pretty well maintained by a team of weed-whacking volunteers!
This is only the first of many adventures. It was just a local weekend trip! We’re looking forward to heading up to Humboldt County soon to check out some public land. Stay tuned.
